The Office of Student Services would like to welcome Mrs. Kendyl Weise, School Counselor, and Mrs. Isela Rangel, Registrar, to Central Catholic. If you are visiting CC this week, be sure to stop by and say “Hi.”
Mrs. Rangel earned her bachelor’s degree from Eastern Illinois University. She has over 18 years of office experience including working at the Illinois State’s Attorney’s Office and the Danville Area Community College. As part of this experience, Mrs. Rangel has worked over seven years in an academic setting.
If I had to pick the biggest lesson God has taught me the past few years, it’s that I should never plan my future in detail! I grew up in Benton County and graduated from BC in 2009, and then graduated from Ball State in 2013 with a degree in theatre education. I realized there were no theatre positions open where I wanted to live, so I became certified to teach English and spent a year in a special education classroom at BC before moving into a full-time high school English position the following school year. I was sure this was it; I would settle in, get comfortable with my job, and work at BC for the rest of my career. I had just married my high school sweetheart, Briton, and I felt confident about the direction our lives would go. He would be a youth leader, and I would be a teacher. Then, I slowly started to realize that my true passion was not teaching; my true passion was helping kids grow, being a cheerleader when they needed it most. After significant prayer, worry, and research, I applied to Indiana State University’s School Counseling Master’s program. I was quickly affirmed in my decision to pursue this career, and I have enjoyed immensely my continued work with a wide variety of students. Though it’s difficult to leave the county I have called home for so long, I trust that God has guided me this direction for a reason. As my husband and I have worked to be open to new experiences and career change (he works at Food Finders now), we’ve found greater peace and comfort. We currently reside in Lafayette with our dog, Leonidas (Leo), and our cat, Ruslan. We enjoy spending time with family, working on our 1968 Chevy Impala and 1968 Pontiac LeMans, and playing (Briton) and listening to (me) music. We are active in the church community at Covenant EPC, where Briton can be found playing guitar and singing with the worship band almost every Sunday. We are excited for this new journey and to be a Central Catholic Knight!
