As the new dean of the School of Education at Indiana University Kokomo, I’m excited to share information with you about a scholarship opportunity from the Indiana Commission for Higher Education (ICHE) for your students who are interested in pursuing a degree in education.
Last week, the ICHE announced that the Next Generation Hoosier Educators Scholarship application is now open for students to apply. The scholarship will be awarded to 200 high-achieving high school and college students from across Indiana. It would be wonderful to have some of these scholarships support students from our region of the state!
The scholarship is renewable for up to $7,500 each year for four academic years. In exchange, students agree to teach for five years at an eligible Indiana school. Students interested in applying must have a teacher complete a nomination form and upload the nomination form in their online application through ScholarTrack. Applications are due by 11:59pm EST on November 30, 2017.
The School of Education at Indiana University Kokomo offers several degrees embedded with school-based experiences beginning in the first semester, freshman year and benefits from a strong Center for Educational Partnership with 32 local school districts. If we can do anything to assist your students, you, or your colleagues, please reach out. I would love to hear from you!
