The Lafayette Mayor’s Youth Council unveiled its latest project. The council is comprised of high school students from across the city and their task was to design new banners for Veterans Memorial Parkway. The high schoolers collaborated with local veterans to make sure the banners properly reflected each branch. including one for prisoners of war and those missing in action. One the council members says its exciting to know the banners will be seen by all in the community. The students spent time talking to the veterans about their design where they learned about their service and how much they contributed to the country. The students had to go through many stages including getting permission from each branch to use each crest. Central Catholic seniors Kim Cahoon and Luke Joyce helped with the design and were on hand for the unveiling!
