If your student is 16 or older and is an animal lover, this may be the perfect summer opportunity for a volunteer role at My Little Slice of Heaven Wildlife Refuge Center in Attica. This is an opportunity available to faculty, staff, and parents, as well.
NOTE: This would not qualify for Central Catholic’s service hour requirements. However, it would be a great service-learning opportunity.
From the center: We are looking for volunteers who are 16 or older to help come feed babies, clean cages, and learn how to interact with wild animals in a safe and helpful manner this summer.
Teens who volunteer not only get the experience of wildlife rehab, but also get the opportunity to become a rehabber themselves once they turn 18. We are getting desperate for volunteers. The main rehab location is based out of Attica, so transportation there and back would be required.
