This weekend a member of the Central Catholic football team was reported to be positive for the coronavirus by the Tippecanoe County Health Department. Following the report of the positive case, the LCSS team contacted parents of students that had possibly been in contact with the student who has the virus.
The LCSS Health and Safety Team followed safety procedures developed for this situation, which included consultation with the Tippecanoe County Health Department and the Diocese of Lafayette in Indiana, and notified students and their families that were in close contact with the student. The individuals that were in contact (contact tracing) with the student with the positive test result will be in quarantine for 14-days from the date of exposure. Athletes are expected to return from quarantine next week. Games previously scheduled with Tri West and Guerin Catholic have been cancelled.
“The Lafayette Catholic School System has thorough and detailed plans for school and athletics, and they worked as designed. We remain committed to our students safely returning to school on Tuesday and look forward to welcoming them back,” said Eric Davis, Executive Director of the Lafayette Catholic School System.
