Every year over 3.5 million juniors across the United States take the PSAT (Preliminary SAT) which also serves as the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. The National Merit Scholarship committee selects the top 50,000 scores from across the United States. Of those 50,000 students, 34,000 high performers are named as “Commended Students” and the other 16,000 are awarded the prestigious label of “Semifinalist.” Commended Students do not advance in the Merit Scholarship competition, however their scores indicate that they have demonstrated outstanding academic excellence.
The 16,000 “Semifinalists” are students who represent less than 1% of high school seniors in the United States. This is an extremely high honor commending students for extraordinary academic achievement. These students have an opportunity to advance to the Finalist level.
Please join me in congratulating and recognizing the following Central Catholic Scholars. Commended Students: Amelia Ringor and Joshua Siemers.
Semifinalists: Owen Adler and Mary Kate Krane
Congratulations to these talented individuals!
