Congratulations to the CC junior high Spell Bowl team, which has qualified to compete in the state finals. Central Catholic’s score of 33 in the area competition, held virtually on Wednesday, Nov. 4, was the third-highest among 24 teams statewide in Class 4. Central Catholic is one of seven state qualifiers in Class 4. CC’s spellers were led by eighth-grader Sophia Adler, who scored nine points in her round, and seventh-grader Connor Soon, who scored six points. Other team members are Ethan Boutelle, Evie Kopetski, Noah Martin, Dominic Schweiss, Jamie Sison, and Ethan Stephens. The state finals competition will take place virtually on Wednesday, Nov. 11. This is the second time the junior high Spell Bowl team has qualified for the state finals during coach Joe Gerrety’s nine-year tenure.
