Congratulations to the Central Catholic junior high Academic Super Bowl team, which had five top-10 finishes statewide in Saturday’s final competition.
Central Catholic, competing in Class 4, was the state runner-up in Science and took third in Interdisciplinary, sixth in Math, seventh in Social Studies, and eighth in English. In the area competition at Lafayette Tecumseh, which included seven Class 4 schools, CC took second in English and first in the other four categories.
The team will receive team plaques and individual medals for the second- and third-place finishes in Science and Interdisciplinary, respectively.
The Science team, coached by Tricia Van Slyke, consisted of Colin Carpenter, Bridget O’Gara, Connor Soon, Vincent Telenko, and Alina Alvarez.
The Interdisciplinary team consisted of Jacob Ramey, Owen Seeley, Nicholas Props, Connor Soon, and Vincent Telenko.
The Math team, coached by Laura Smith, consisted of Jacob Ramey, Owen Seeley, Vincent Telenko, John Schweiss, Connor Soon, and Harrison Adler. Maggie Friel also was a member of the Math team.
The Social Studies team, coached by James Lefort, consisted of Nicholas Props, Colin Carpenter, and Naomi Guzman.
The English team, coached by Joe Gerrety, consisted of Naomi Guzman, Nicholas Props, Lilly Frey, Owen Seeley, Jacob Ramey, and Carson Gray.
