Congratulations to eighth-grader Sophia Adler, who won the Central Catholic School Spelling Bee for the second straight year Wednesday, January 20, correctly spelling 11 words, including the championship word, hurtle. The runner-up was seventh-grader Vincent Telenko.
Also participating were seventh-graders Connor Soon and Ethan Boutelle and eighth-grader Dominic Schweiss. All five competitors will represent Central Catholic in the Christian Schools Spelling Bee on February 4 at Faith Christian School.
As the school champion, Sophia will also represent CC at the Scripps Regional Spelling Bee on March 6, also at Faith Christian, competing for a chance to advance to the National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C.
