Central Catholic–What a great place to learn! This school year Central Catholic welcomed eight new staff members, myself included. The welcoming atmosphere and supportive stakeholders make this school special! Part of my role as assistant principal is to monitor attendance and assist with discipline matters. Each month in the Knightly News, I will further explain and clarify policies that have recently been an issue. This month’s blog will discuss the common dress code violations, arranged absences, and tardies.
As autumn approaches and the weather turns cooler, please remember approved shorts can only be worn in August, September, May, and June, whether it is a uniform day or Spirit Day. Belts are to be worn with all clothing having belt loops. Shoes are to be solid color (black, brown, navy, neutral, white). No multiple colored shoes.
Lastly, students can only wear approved sweaters and fleece pullovers bearing the CC logo over their uniforms. Hooded sweatshirts are not permitted. Sport team issued pullovers and sweatshirts are not approved for regular dress uniform days. Please refer to the Knightline(student handbook pages 27-30) for further information.
Absences: When your child is sick and unable to attend school, call the school before 9:00 AM to report the absence AND send a note signed by the parent on the day of return. (page 31-32 of student handbook)
Arranged absences: A pre-arranged absence form must be obtained from the office 5 days prior to the first day of the absence. Failure to do so may result in unexcused absences and no make-up work allowed. (page 32 of student handbook)
Tardies: Consequences for being late to any one given class per semester:
1st tardy-teacher warning
2nd tardy-teacher consequence
3rd tardy-office referral and detention
4th tardy-office referral, detention or in-school-suspension
More details can be found on page 33 of the student handbook.
