Congratulations to the Central Catholic junior high Academic Super Bowl team, which finished in the top 10 statewide in three of five disciplines after Saturday’s final competition. CC also brought home ribbons in four out of five disciplines in the regional competition April 30 at Lafayette Tecumseh Junior High School.
Competing against 52 other schools statewide in Class 4, Central Catholic was the state runner-up in English, sixth in the state in Social Studies, and ninth in the state in Interdisciplinary. In the regional competition, CC’s math team took third. The English team of Thomas Schnerre, Amelia Brost, Alex Ramey, Miriam Walker, and Alicia Orr was coached by Mr. Joe Gerrety. The Social Studies team of Amelia Brost, Paul Schwartz, Alicia Orr, and Miriam Walker was coached by Mrs. Tori Hart. The Math team of Jack Gerrety, Matt Mazur, Mark Cramer, and Brenden Wagner was coached by Mrs. Lisa Fallen and Ms. Lynn Bryan. The Science team of Ambrose Ringor and Brenden Wagner was coached by Mr. Michael Ringor. On the Interdisciplinary team were Ambrose Ringor, Isaac Switzer, Amelia Brost, Jack Gerrety, Thomas Schnerre, Miriam Walker, and Matt Mazur.
The Academic Super Bowl team would like to thank all of the parents for their support and supervision during the competition, including providing snacks and goody. The theme of this year’s competition, in honor of Indiana’s bicentennial, was Hoosier Heritage. Next year’s theme is the French Revolution.
