Service Projects during Lent at CC

IMPORTANT SERVICE UPDATE…

  1. Please note: you MUST sign up using the Sign-up Genius link to participate in the service projects that we have planned for this spring. There is limited space. If you are not signed up you will not be able to serve.
  2. The service opportunities with Food Finders have changed!  I was notified yesterday that Food Finders needed to change our scheduled dates. We will not serve there tomorrow. The dates are currently March 15 and March 22 (and possibly April 5). We will serve at the warehouse location at 1210 N. 10th Street.

 

Tippecanoe County United Food Pantry – 1320 Tippecanoe Street

  • Thursday, March 2, 4-6 p.m.
  • Thursday March 16, 4-6 p.m.

Six student volunteers (grades 7-12) are needed for each Thursday afternoon. You will earn Type A hours for working directly with individuals and families in need. Mrs. Justak will meet you there. Transportation is not provided.

You MUST register using the Sign-up Genius Form.

 

Food Finders Food Pantry Sort Room –  1210 N. 10th Street

  • Wednesday, March 15, 5-7 p.m.
  • Wednesday, March 22, 5-7 p.m.
  • Wednesday, April ?, 5-7 p.m.

As many as 20 student volunteers (grades 7-12) are needed for each Wednesday afternoon. You will earn Type B hours for indirect service, working to prepare food to be distributed to local food pantries. Mrs. Justak will meet you there. Transportation is not provided.

You MUST register using the Sign-up Genius Form.

 

Lafayette Urban Ministry Homeless Shelter – Meal Preparation in the Central Catholic – FACS Room

  • Tuesday, March 7, 3:15 – 4:45 p.m.
  • Tuesday, April 4, 3:15 – 4:45 p.m.

Up to 10 volunteers (grades 7-12) are needed for each Tuesday afternoon. You will earn Type B hours for indirect service, working to prepare a meal for the homeless men and women staying at the LUM Shelter that night. Mrs. Morrow will be in her room ready to get you started cooking!

You MUST register using the Sign-up Genius Form.

 

 

Lafayette Urban Ministry Homeless Shelter  – 525 N. 4th Street (meet at CC)

  • Tuesday, March 7, 8-10 p.m.
  • Tuesday, April 4, 8-10 p.m.

Up to 5 volunteers (grades 9-12) are needed for each Tuesday night. You will earn Type A hours for direct service, visiting with and serving a meal to the homeless men and women staying at the LUM Shelter. Mrs. Justak and Mrs. Bellman will meet you at CC at 8 p.m. and provide transportation to and from the shelter. We will return to CC at 10 p.m.

You MUST register using the Sign-up Genius Form, and pick up a permission slip from Mrs. Justak.

 

 

Give Hope, Fight Poverty Shoe Drive Shoe Drive at CC – To Benefit Orphaned Children in Africa

Friday, March 17 through Friday, March 24 in your 10:10

All students and staff will participate in their 10:10’s!  Prizes will be awarded to groups and individuals who bring in the most pairs of shoes!

 

 

Super Service Saturday at CC  – Central Catholic Jr/Sr High School

Saturday, March 18   9 a.m. – 12 noon

We need as many student and adult volunteers as we can get! You will earn Type C – School hours for helping with various projects that need done in and around the Central Catholic campus. Mrs. Justak, Mr. Wagner and Mr. Sorgenfrei will be there to get you started! You can help for one hour, two hours, or all three, but you MUST register using the Sign-up Genius Form. You will be assigned a project when you arrive ready to work!

 

 

30 Hour Famine  – Central Catholic Jr/Sr High School

April 8-9 (details TBA)

Students in grades 9-12 are invited to join us for a 30 Hour Famine. We will fast, pray, play and raise funds and awareness for global and local hunger. Watch Schoology for more details!

 

 

St. Anthony Healthcare Visits  – 1205 N. 14th Street

  • Wednesday, March 19, 1-3 p.m.
  • Wednesday, April 2, 1-3 p.m.
  • Wednesday, April 23, 1-3 p.m.

Students in grades 7-12 are needed to visit with the residents at St. Anthony on Sunday afternoons. You will earn Type A hours for direct service, visiting with and keeping company with the elderly residents. Miss Beardmore will meet you there. Transportation is not provided.  It is helpful, but not required, to use the Sign-up Genius Form.
